APRIL 14, 2015
Here we are. April again. Something about April stirs my desire to blog about life. Last year, I blogged daily with my 100 Happy Days challenge. A couple years ago, I did Blog Every Day April. Maybe the urge hit this year because I’m procrastinating with two major novel editing tasks.
So let’s get to it, shall we? (The news day, not the procrastinating…)
As the title implied, I ended up on a Wild Goose Chase today. LITERALLY. The assignment desk said, head to Anaheim Hills and find a wild goose with an arrow shot through its neck. Were they kidding? How the heck was I going to find a goose based on a few tweets like the one below???
Argh. People can be maddening. This poor creature.
But that wasn’t how my news day started.
First stop? Orange County Fire Authority…
…where firemen honored two men for saving a woman’s life when she went into cardiac arrest at the restaurant where they worked. The paramedics said she would have died or been severely brain damaged had the two heroes not hopped into action and done CPR–and we’re talking about a fit, healthy 50-year-old woman. Turns out it was a freak anomaly, something about potassium levels. I totally started crying during the interview, because she was crying along with her daughter, and I thought about my mommy… and well, the waterworks began. The woman is doing great now, thanks to them.
And hey! Check out this totally awesome vintage GMC rescue truck in the firehouse! Yes, I’m easily distracted by shiny things that go VROOM!
After finishing the assignment, the desk directed me to the Wild Goose Chase.
Second stop. Anaheim Hills.
I seriously didn’t think we had a chance in hell of finding the fowl, but we did. Amazingly. Seeing this poor guy broke my heart. How can people be so cruel??
Tomorrow morning, I head back out to cover fish and game’s attempt to capture him, and hopefully, help him.
There was a car wash along the river path, and one of the employees created the loveliest vegetable and flower garden there.
I’m itching to have a vegetable garden, but don’t have space where the climate is good at our place in the OC, and have questionable conditions at our place out in the high desert. What a gorgeous use of a dirt lot, right!
Okay, okay. Part of the daily blog thing is keeping them succinct.
